Anhui University of Chinese Medicine

Located in Hefei, capital city of Anhui Province, established in 1959, Anhui University of Chinese Medicine (originally known as Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine) is a construction unit of national clinical research base, a national (Anhui-based) modern technology industry of Chinese medicine, an international cooperation base for the promotion of Chinese medicine, a national base for clinical drug research, a doctoral degree-conferring unit, exam-free unit for postgraduate recommendation. Anhui Academy of Chinese Medicine is affiliated to the University, and it consists of ten research institutes.

The University covers a total area of 1,171 Mu, and it has three campuses located at Meishan Road, Shi River Road, and by the Shaoquan Lake respectively. There are over 2,400 academic staff for teaching and/or research, among whom there are 2 Members of “Wanjiang Scholars” (a special academic title awarded only to those most distinguished scholars in Anhui province), over 160 professors or equivalent academic title holders，500 associate professors or equivalent academic title holders，16 doctoral supervisors, 298 Master’s supervisors and 26 tutors for the project of academic and experiential heritage of national famous and senior Chinese medicine doctors. Additionally, there are 56 domestically and internationally well-known experts and scholars working as a visiting professor at the University. The University now registers over 11, 043 full-time students at all levels (Among them, there are 820 postgraduates). The University offers diverse courses in its 29 Bachelor’s programs (including 5 national key courses funded by the Ministry of Education of China, 6 provincial key specialty supported by the local Anhui Government), two doctoral degree programs of Level-1 discipline, four Master’s degree programs of Level-1 discipline, 25 Master’s degree programs of Level-2 discipline, two programs that award professional rather than academic Master’s degrees and five joint bases for doctoral training. The university library claims a collection of 1702,000 books, including 33,000 thread-bound ancient books stored in the Ancient Book Department, and it is a “National Key Unit for Ancient Book Protection”. The Centre of Chinese Medicine Specimen is the most special specimen pavilion with the richest collections of medical specimens among all the medical colleges and universities throughout the country, keeping 110,000 medicinal plant specimens. The Centre of Xin'an Medical Culture is the promotion and education base for Traditional Chinese Medicine in Anhui Province.

The University also performs staff- and/or student-exchange programs with universities in the United States, Australia, Sweden, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and the district of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, etc.
